President of the National Council of Teachers of English, Carol Jago taught English in middle and high school in Santa Monica for 32 years. She directs the California Reading and Literature Project at UCLA and edits the California Association of Teachers of English quarterly journal, California English. She has written a weekly education column for the Los Angeles Times, and her essays have appeared in English Journal, Language Arts, NEA Today. She has served as content advisor for the College Board’s AP Central Advanced Placement Literature web site and as director of the National Council of Teachers of English Commission on Literature.
